Pulcinella, a foolish servant, is sent from the depths of Mt. Vesuvius to present-day Campania to grant the last wish of poor shepherd Tommaso, who spent his whole life looking after a crumbling Bourbon estate: his mission is to save a young buffalo named Sarchiapone. Pulcinella takes the buffalo north and the two servants, man and beast, travel through a beautiful and lost Italy.

I think this is how a trip would feel in rural Italy.
There's multiple beautiful shots with a folkloric/mythical atmosphere. Sometimes it felt as I would watch a fairy tale in a post-post apocalyptic world.
The theme behind film is really interesting, considering how it started as a documentary and ended up as documentary-esque fiction.
I didn't know anything about Italy's history but it's sure that they have/had an identity crisis as a country.
Personally I have a long forgotten connection with angulates, to be precise with lambs. My grandfather used to own cattle and later sheep and I had 3 lambs as my "pets". They had a unique way to show their affection and it stuck with me ever since.
