MY. FAVORITE. MOVIE. EVER.
It's literally the combination of my favorite three things— war,my country,Cillian Murphy.
Whoa this was soooo perfect. I love every single minute of this. Plus, I love learning about war (as y'all can tell) and Anthropoid in general is ine of my fav topics. I had never knew Cillian Murphy played as a Czechoslovak and dear loooordddd I'm glad I found out he did. Jamie did an incredible job as Jan Kubiš and I can't even put into words how much chemistry those two had (I sincerely apologize but they should've kissed),I would love to see them in another movie together. This whole movie was made so so good and it made me so happy when I found out there was a movie on this. I sobbed through the ending like what do you mean they didn't die with each other?. Heart throbbing literally. I can't even put into words how much I love this. I think that everyone who believes in the Nazi ideology should watch this movie and realize that no,it literally wasn't cool/good in any range. Watching this made me incredibly proud of my heritage. It's a reminder that even in the darkest hours of the occupation,there still were people willing to sacrifice a lot to free Czechoslovakia. I've always been very interested in war history. It changed my life because it forced me to ask myself what I would be willing to stand up for. I am so proud of my country and all of the history heroes including Josef and Jan. The ending made me cry harder than any other movie. There is a specific kind of heartbreak in watching a movie where you already know the ending and still you pray for it to end good. Watching the streets of Prague,which is my home and my history,turn into a battlefield for freedom was overwhelming. I felt this movie in my blood. It's a masterpiece,never forget who fought for us.

OH MY GOD I GET IT EVERYONE DIES!!! the second half of this movie is so anxiety-inducing, once the assassination attempt starts it just escalates... and then keeps escalating... and then never stops escalating... in a way i certainly appreciated how it subverted the typical "plot mountain." instead of rising and falling gradually, it just keeps rising and then abruptly stops and drops you off a cliff!

(maybe this is my fault) but the poster makes this film seem very artistic. somehow i was expecting imagery and storytelling more similar to the captain or something along those lines. suffice to say i was a little disapointed when it was not like that at all. i thought the cinematography was average and the first half of the movie, where not too much happened in the grand scheme of things, didn't help much. is this my fault for being disapointed when my assumptions werent real?? probably

War films are my absolute favorite so Ive seen my fair share- this has instantly taken a top 3 spot for me.

Everything about this film is just a masterpiece- cilian murphy + war = perfection

There were certain scenes that are just completely horrifying (and unfortunately entirely accurate) and so insanely well acted i almost had to look away (i mean holding his mothers head up to his face to get a confession is one of the most gruesome psychotic things ive seen- not sure if they actually did that or not but hey they’re nazis so i wouldn’t be surprised)

I think something worth noting is the use of silence in this film, for example when all the guns stop, and it focuses on Cilian Murphys realisation of what that silence means. No music, no background noise, just complete silence- just so impactful

And again in the final scene, just quiet classical music, the focus of the candle dropping into the water and cilians eyes- just utter perfection

This is a film I would re watch a million times over and enjoy it every time (dk if it’s weird to say i enjoy watching movies like this but hey ho)
