i need to stop taking chances on these c rated horror movies. or maybe i should expect less from them? i’m not quite sure. i thought the movie would be at least halfway entertaining, and although the lead actress tries her best to keep you engaged, the story just falls so incredibly flat. the use of black and white here is meant to add another depth of terror or fear but it just doesn’t work and the cards splitting the story into different sections just feels very lazy. hated the revenge story subplot too! it just takes all the really lazy shortcuts that go into most horror movies like flickering lights and those fast twitching bodies and expects that to be the reason for you to be scared. the dialogue in the latter half is also so cheesy and bad. the only redeeming quality was darling’s dissection of the corpse, that part was pretty cool. waste of an hour and change otherwise.

Very remiscent of 1960's surreal horror, shown perfectly in black and white. The visuals of the film were very intense but nice to look at. 

Other than that, the film didn't really grasp on my heartstrings much. The story was interesting, the horror was horrific, but the problem I had was that it didn't really make sense... but I guess that's how most arthouse horror movies are like? Kind of David Lynch-y ish.
