it’s grimy, brutal, and honestly kind of sad in a way the previous two didn’t fully tap into. there’s still that hyper-stylized violence and surreal flair, but this one feels more grounded like the world around matsushima is just rotting, and she’s the only one still fighting to breathe through it.
i liked how stripped down it felt. the plotting is looser, the tone is colder, but it works. she’s less of an avenging angel here and more of a ghost drifting through the city’s darkest corners. and that imagery is still so bold, but less theatrical this time.
it’s not as explosive as the first two. it feels like a slow burn into hopelessness, and yet, she still keeps going. i didn’t love every beat of it, less stylish, more tragic. still powerful.
