First of all, the bond, chemistry, and humor between Nick and Nora (William Powell and Myrna Loy) were so strong that I genuinely think I watched one of the most compatible married couples I’ve ever seen in a film.. Their chemistry is so good that the movie actually shows how priceless and special marriage can be when it’s with the right person.. Now let’s move on to the other part: the ending completely caught me off guard. I never expected the killer, and not being able to figure it out until the very last second gave me the same feeling I get from Agatha Christie novels.. You know when you reach an exciting part while reading a book and suddenly sit up properly as if being more alert will somehow make you read faster? This film gave me exactly that feeling.. At the same time, while watching it I constantly wished I could teleport myself back to the 1930s-40s; attending parties where people only invited those they truly cared about, dressing elegantly, meeting and talking face to face instead of staring at phones (which probably strengthened people’s confidence and diction), using rotary phones and asking operators to connect calls, getting news from newspapers and listening to songs on record players, checking the time only through a wristwatch instead of a phone, and having cinemas be the only way to watch films… I would genuinely love all of that so much.. Another reason why this film feels so special is the way it handles scenes or story ideas that could easily become cliché, yet somehow makes them feel completely fresh.. Normally, a detective who doesn’t want to work but eventually gets dragged into a case again because of curiosity would be an extremely cliché setup. But here, his wife becomes the reason he gets involved, and instead of him being curious, she is the curious one, which instantly breaks that cliché in such a natural way (not a spoiler by the way).. The film keeps doing this in many other scenes too, using unique perspectives and character dynamics that make even familiar ideas feel original.. In short, I absolutely loved this film and highly recommend it

Şimdi diğer konuya gelelim, finali beni ters köşe etti katili hiç beklemiyordum ve filmin son saniyesine kadar bunu bilememek bana Agatha Christie'yi hatırlattığından içimde özel bir duygu oluştu, kitap okurken heyecan verici bir bölüme gelince sanki yatmak yerine tetikte olup düzgün oturunca daha hızlı okuyacakmış gibi oluruz ya, bu film de aynı böyle hissettirdi .. Aynı şekilde bir de filmi izlerken çok fazla ışınkaşnmak istedim 1930-1940'lara; insanların sadece sevdiklerini çağırdıkları partilere katılıp güzel elbiseler giyinmeyi, telefonla ilgilenmek yerine yüz yüze tanışıp sohbet etmeyi (böylelikle diksiyonun ve özgüvenin güçlenmesi), ahizeli telefon kullanıp numarayı vererek "beni şuna yönlendirin" demeyi, haberleri gazetelerden-şarkıları plak çalardan dinlemeyi, saate telefondan değil de sadece kol saatinden bakabilmeyi, filmleri izleyebileceğim tek aracın sinema olmasını çok çok isterdim... Bu arada bu filmin ayriyeten çok özel olmasının bir diğer sebebi de klişe olabilecek senaryoları/sahneleri klişeden çok uzak şekilde işlemesi, çok zor bir şey normalde mesela çalışmak istemeyen bir dedektifin sonra çalışmak zorunda kalması veya merakına yenilmesi çok klişe bir sahne ama karısı devreye giriyor ve normalin aksine adam merak ettiği için değil de karısı merak ettiği için davaya giriştiğinden bu sefer de o klişelik kırılmış oluyor bilmiyorum anlatabildim mi (spoiler değildi bu), aynı şekilde başka sahnelerde de eşsiz bakış açıları kullanılarak yönetilen film tamamen klişe sahnelerden arınmış.. Kısaca filmi çok beğendim izleyin
