I wasnt not a fan of the structure of this movie, the plot is stunted and didnt benefit from the framing of the storytelling in my opinion.

Another almost good film. It felt a bit unfinished as they drew out these sections of Sidney’s life, but it was a story told many times before. Especially the deaths (spoiler sorry) were quite obvious, almost like there was a huge “this character will die in a slightly less predictable way than usual” sign above their head from the first scene they appeared. Don’t get me wrong, I did cry and it was sad, but the characters played into reoccurring tropes that were almost mocking the audience as the movie lead us to believe we would watch something with substance (ex. Melody as the token manic pixie in this tragically misogynistic story, Sidney as the pretentious and lonely guy who is just different than everyone else, and Brett Newport being the dead wife trope who dies at the beginning of every sad movie). Nevertheless, I will watch anything with Elle Fanning in it. Her acting was the anchor for everyone else as Logan Lerman spoke another monotone line into a voiceover sequence.

Anyways, I would like for them to redo this movie and make it good. Thanks A24 😄
