This movie's very energetic and cheerful right off the bat, which I appreciate after the last movie I watched.
Unfortunately, this movie is also kind of depressing. Ai has fallen in love with her friend, who she's nicknamed Miao Miao, who herself has fallen in love with Chen Fei, who is himself grieving the loss of his boyfriend Bei, the vocalist in the band he produced for. In the end, nobody gets love, but Fei at least gets a little closure, and Ai finally decides to reconcile with her father.
There are a few moments that made me cry in this film. The first was seeing Ai holding Miao's hands to her belly, which is a phenomenally beautiful shot.
"Miao Miao! God must have sent you here to save us!"
alt. quote: "You haven't been in school for two days." "And you only come see me today?"
alt. alt. quote: "Chen fei...do you love me? Just answer me! I don't want a fucking souvenir!"
