ARETHA TAKE ME UP!
I watched this in the plane on the way to Seattle, Paige asleep on my shoulder, just crying at the sound of this woman’s voice and the power of her presence.
She walks up to stage like a classical pianist, no big “hey I’m at Aretha Franklin, thanks for coming” as if she’s saving every ounce of her being to pour into the notes she releases from her body. It’s astounding.
Beautifully directed, and assembled and an amazing tribute to a queen.
