“Your 20s are all about hope and your 30s are about realising how dumb it is to hope.”
This group of people are so important to me. This was my all time favourite movie for many years and it’s been years since I’ve revisited it. It hit harder now more than ever now that I’m in my 30s. Birbiglia needs to make another movie. I forgot how sharp the writing was.
I identified so much with the Sam character. Wanting to stay as part of a group and afraid to break away. “What if I like being in the well?” Not everyone can be successful in the industry and this film was so real about that.

This would have been an excellent show. The cast is full of people that I know are funny, and I know SNL isn’t exactly a comedy goldmine, but not having a single laughable moment doesn’t work well to establish this group on the brink of comedy breakthrough.
