I'M SO ASHAMED!" i maybe a little bit felt that. not the situation they were in even a bit but just the deep pain that comes along with any sort of human emotion. what an absolute prick. judd steiner and norman bates would be best friends and have the strangest most awkward intimacy with each other. did not expect a KKK cameo in this

tight, unsettling, and driven almost entirely by dialogue. what makes it work isn’t the crime itself, but the psychological unraveling and courtroom tension that follows. the performances are sharp across the board, especially in the final stretch where the moral arguments really hit.

The dramaturgy of this film was unfortunately much more interesting than the film itself I enjoyed it as an examination of how the Loeb and Leopold case was presented/perceived, especially since it’s based on a novel that already offers an interpretation of events (as is true of virtually any sources or media on the case) there were specific references/facts of the case featured that I haven’t seen in any other media about or inspired by the case 
I’m also fascinated by the creation and inclusion of Ruth she seems to be inspired by a girlfriend that Leopold had (I can’t currently remember her name) but the actual situation is a creation of the movie its intention within the narrative is very clear but it intrigues me as in reality (or at least as evidence suggests) Leopold showed an interest and desire for sexual violence that Loeb didn’t share (in fact evidence suggests that Loeb had little interest in sex in a general sense)- meanwhile in Compulsion Artie (Loeb) suggests and pressures Judd (Leopold) into raping Ruth 
The intrigue of the history of it all aside the film was admittedly disappointing
