It’s a rare example of a sequel that is better than the original. I liked the story in this one quite a bit more, it had an idea of where it was going from the beginning unlike the original. I will say that the love story part of this is underwhelming compared to the first, it felt like they didn’t want it in there but someone told that it had to be there. In my opinion, it fell a bit flat but that’s really kind of fine for me because I’m not much of a romantic. There are a ton of great action sequences and a great training story. It’s a very solid movie, especially since when I first watched it, I thought it was gonna suck. I was pleasantly wrong

10/10 one of my favorite cinematic experiences at home. I got to watch this with my grandfather who loved Top Gun when it first came out and showed me the original movie a couple years ago. But this sequel is better than the original and was so damn unexpectedly emotional for me. Every character in here is so damn fun and there is not one moment in this movie where something fun isn’t happening. I just love the whole pilot POV and it makes you feel like you’re on the striker with them. I mean Glen Powell and Miles Teller both killed their rules. And in my opinion Hangman played by Glen Powell is the most lovable douchey character you’ll ever see. Me and my grandpa were dying when Maverick comes in the room and Hangman realized how bad he messed up at the bar. Rooster and Maverick’s connection growing throughout the film was so amazing to watch especially with 2 amazing actors. This genuinely might be one of if not my favorite third acts ever it was just so good and had many callbacks to the last film and great needed character arcs. Like the third act gave me everything I wanted. This is a movie I feel you can’t miss it in your lifetime because it is just such an experience even from at home. Wish I could’ve saw this in the theaters because wow.

felt like a thinly veiled army recruiting ad without a lot of substance to me. i’m not big into action so it didn’t do it for me there. the main conflict is he has to complete a seemingly impossible mission, which you know he is going to complete, and the development to get there did not feel particularly interesting. no themes that made me think about anything deeply.
