he said he first had only the idea of a pickpocket and a chase.
In 2003 he met his wife , and that gave him the love story.
a friend told him to add a demon boss , and then the film found its shape.
Jack is the pickpocket.
he has schizophrenia and lives in the subway.
inner demons tell him what to do.
they make him think he can do crazy things , like jump off buildings , and he listens.
he also talks to Nikki , who works at a bar called Dementia Cocktails , but she feels like part of his imagination.
one day Jack steals the wrong wallet.
It belongs to Rachel , a woman he loved long ago.
that chance meeting changes everything. he has to fight the voices to do the right thing.
what I liked most is the scene where he touches Rachel.
the colors change , the monsters disappear , and the whole world feels soft. It is a simple picture: when someone understands you , you do not feel like a freak anymore.
the message is clear.
we all fight dark thoughts. Jack fights his guilt.
the film says keep fighting , because there is something good waiting.
If you do not try , you will not find it.
In the end love wins.
not just romantic love.
It is also family love , friend love , and the kindness of a stranger.
for Jack , Rachel's love is the cure.
