Another fairly simple, very charming Lombard romance! This time she is paired up with Clark Gable (before they got married) and OH boy does the heat get turned up to 100. Both are so charming and their flirtations, especially in the first half, are so honest and real. You can see their real life chemistry shine through.

Gable is great and he does his usual charismatic thing, but Carole Lombard is the star for me. The script is incredibly sharp and she is on top of it. She also grounds the film into something with a bit more substance in the final half hour. She never forgets she’s in a romantic comedy but has some great emotional moments.

I wish Clark Gable and Carole Lombard could have made a billion more movies!!!
