That one meme about the women you think are butch lesbians but have boyfriends. This film just confirmed my belief that Lena Dunham was very much inspired by Andrew Bujalski‘s work. I’m not sure if they have any sort of creative relation to each other. However there is a reference with Girls character “Marnie” and Funny Haha having a lead with the same name. Overall I love his work, mumblecore isn’t for everyone but it is for me. This one in particular was especially nostalgic for me considering this came out in 2009 my 8th grade year. I heavily remember my mom wearing that green polka dot scarf and having friends similar to the ones in this. The warm weather really put me back to summer of 09. I love you Andrew! Criminally underrated.
