this was a movie😭 def a classic, maybe just not MY classic. I felt like this was an accurate depiction of hbcu/ black greek and the topics that spike touched on are very much still prescient but omg the execution dated the movie sooo badly. maybe it’s jus me but I really feel like there’s other ways to touch on colorism that don’t involve jasmine guy screaming jiggaboo into a crowd😂😂 and then jane?? what they did to her was gross and again bad taste in my mouth. other than that, i did like the acting and the dysfunctional nature of the black male friendships all, spike really started the wave for complex portrayals of black masculinity so props to him. did this movie add anything to my life? not particularly but it’s an objectively good movie, subjectively eh and a classic so I’m glad I watched !!
