> Probably the best Dafoe has ever looked in a movie.I've been on a Tubi binge as of late, and this has been on my Tubi watch later for forever, even if I knew it was going to be a mixed bag. Kathryn Bigelow is a director I appreciate for movies like 'Strange Days' or 'The Hurt Locker' (check out 'Strange Days', it's so fucking good); oh, and the co-director is the Cowboy from 'Mulholland Drive'.
This is what I expected, but I would recommend it. Willem Dafoe is great in this, showing that he had great promise, even in his early career. He delivers these lines with a great amount of cool and is the glue that holds this movie together. There are great parts in this movie, mainly the conversation scenes between Dafoe and Telena, but much of this movie feels muddled.
This movie could have been 40 minutes, but it drags on. I love meandering movies when they are done well, but it's pretty hard. The editing deflates the pacing, and the shots don't support the tension between the bikers and the townsfolk required for this movie to work. I didn't hate it at all, and it has enough ambition and thought-provoking elements about social stature to make it worthwhile.
