are we gonna ignore the fact that montevideo was written incorrectly ??? apart from that… candide was soooo boring I was snoring every time he sang, although he sings well. My goodness Kristin and Patti were amazing in this, loved every single second of them in it. I liked the changes from the book, maybe the only one which was a bit unnecessary was making paquette do the trip to El Dorado with Candide rather than Cacambo, who’s the most “rational” character let’s say… he shows much more reasons for Candide to let go of Pangloss’ philosophy. It was entertaining and fun, the other changes made were great! I liked the way it referenced modern culture, it gives you a sense of why the story is satirical and that it can still teach us a thing or two (not sure tho, I can live without men being absolute assholes to Cunegonde and the old lady). Once again I have to say that I LOVE PATTI AND KRISTIN
