I liked this even more this time. Nixon as Emily Dickinson stirred me to teary eyes with such a combination of passion, wit, stubbornness, and expression. The film does a wonderful job constructing the multi-layered world of oppression Dickinson lived under. However, it does so delicately. The world is less oppressive in a blunt way and often opts for the titular quiet to do the talking. There are a number of longer shots which embellish the moment and atmosphere. It works powerfully and leaves a lasting impression. The dialogue is almost annoyingly sharp, consistently and simultaneously sharp but beautiful.
