DAMIEN CHAZELLE YOU MOTHERFUCKER
Well, that was an experience. First Man, is a great film that is beautiful to look at. The film grain feels authentic to the time period, and the cinematography is jaw droppingly beautiful. It’s a shame this was snubbed at the awards when it came out. Gosling does a fantastic job as Armstrong. He is a man who has a desire to explore the unknown, but is also haunted by the personal tragedies he has experienced and I think that makes for a very compelling character/person.
its attention to detail, particularly when it comes to the technical aspects of space travel. From the cramped quarters of the spacecraft to the complex procedures involved in navigating to the moon, the film does an excellent job of immersing the viewer in the world of the astronauts which in the end makes for a wonderful experience.
Overall, First Man is a great movie that is beautifully done. Even though it is overly long and could have been trimmed it still does a great job of captivating the viewer until the very end. Justin Hurwitz kills it at the score as per usual. Damien is 4/4 for me so far. Can this man make a bad movie?
