It is itself confused though. Is he a good guy turned mad by society or fundamentally disturbed? Could be either. Such a cop out.

Robert Duvall’s subplot with his stay at home wife was the most interesting thing about it, but is dumped into nothingness as well.

By the way, Joel Schumacher couldn’t direct. Zero visual storytelling instinct. Batman and Robin and The Number 23 is the modal directorial performance from him.
