i’ve heard a lot about this movie throughout my entire life and decided it was time to finally watch it

it’s so interesting to me how its themes around fame, truth, life, media, perceived boundaries, and ethics are still so relevant to today. probably even more fascinating as im sure viewers of today appreciate the story for different reasons within these themes (like influencer culture, child family influencers, fake news, group think social media circles, etc)

i was definitely surprised by its classification of “comedy”, maybe it’s just my lens of today that makes a scenario like this feel much more like a psychological thriller akin to black mirror episodes

so yeah, this movie felt much darker than i was led to believe it would be and i was disappointed (in a good way) by the abrupt ending (though i understand the choice). i definitely wanted to see them tackle the fallout and consequences of such a social experiment, but i guess that’s a good exercise left to the reader…

10/10 masterpiece. You need to see this in your lifetime. Jim Carrey was in his bag with this one. I came into this movie knowing the ending and I still loved it. This story was just insane. And I was glued to my TV the whole time. From all the little slip ups they have and Truman slowly starting to put together what is happening. The acting was elite in this and Jim Carrey absolutely kills his role. The third act was perfect even with me knowing the ending. This was easily the greatest ending I’ve ever seen to a movie. Christof was a very interesting character. I wouldn’t categorize his mind as evil but he was damn close. He let Truman live out his whole life and pushed him nearly to death just for entertainment at home. I feel like his mind was more mentally insane than evil. He just sounded insane talking to Truman over the speaker. I do believe he honestly knew Truman more than Truman knew himself which was just so weird to think about. Because Truman had absolutely no clue who this man was who entrapped him his whole life. And to end this review "Good morning, and in case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!".
