This movie feels like it could've been made in 1992. John Woo basically went out to make the most John Woo movie ever made. Damn near every single trope he does, he's cranked to 11.
Mexican standoffs? Check.Firing 1 or 2 guns in the air/diving through a window/sliding on something/? Check.Guns that have limitless clips and explosive rounds? Check.Semi-terrible dialogue and subtitles set over a jazz score? Check.Unneccesary-yet-hilarious use of doves? Double. Fucking. Check.
Honestly, this movie's a fucking blast. It feels like a genuinely fun and self-aware throwback to a style of action flicks that I really miss these days. One where it's so overtly silly, and yet still so full of style that it gets by just on that level.
