❝Human beings have become a virus, and cell phones are your disease.❞

I'm not entirely sure why this film exists, other than to make money, of course. 2.0 is an unnecessary and below mediocre sequel to Enthiran, featuring some good actors restricted by a terrible plot and awful writing; I spent half the film cringing and the other half trying to process what I was seeing. Somewhere in there is an important and very relevant message, but it's trapped under layers of silly CGI, and I don't think the majority of people who watched this would've remembered it afterwards. Everything from the first film just got worse, from the acting to the songs, so despite a few kinda cool shots here and there, I wouldn't recommend watching this.

I adored the first movie when I saw it about a year ago, and after hearing nothing but bad things about this film, I was pleasantly surprised.
Let’s get some caveats out of the way first
1. This movie has no musical numbers. While the first had maybe 1 or 2 too many for my taste, (Kilimanjaro does nothing for me.) there were some iconic numbers from the first movie, and this one has zero. For some that won’t matter, but I personally would have liked it have seen one or two.
2. The cute and fun little character moments are not as present in this movie. Chiti is practically given zero character moments, and the movie really takes for granted that you have already seen Enthiran and like the characters already.
The second caveat seems like a big deal, and it kind of is, but the movie is just so consistently visually inventive and exciting that it is hard not to have a good time. The final stretch of this is incredible, and it is all around a bonkers and joyous experience.
Definitely worth a watch, if not entirely essential.

shankar is a genius.. he literally predicted the aura meme.. hes also probably the only guy who can make rajini do the floss instead of his iconic hip shaking
honestly why did they make a movie that was originally about robots to like some pei padam about birds and cell phones i genuinely cannot take this movie seriously knowing a phone company produced this
the way they make a mockery of chitti(redchip) is probably why this movie failed. or also the fact the villain is VALID in his actions (albeit a little selfish) why should i root for an evil robot/scientist when the bird guy is right
okay now i will talk ab the positives
this movie is perhaps worth watching for the last 30 minutes fight sequence. am i crazy? probably. and i remember like genuinely rethinking my phone usage coming out of the theater 💀💀💀
i love the cgi and vfx in this (i watched it in the theater too back when i was 14 so recalling how it looked on the big screen was soooo fun) everyone always praises other directors for indian movie industry vfx progressing but like shankar was THE VISUAL EFFECTS GUY yk
and the music was probably a saving grace of this movie, like the bgms and everything omg we love you rahman
also this is definitely a pity rating (2 stars for 2.0 😝) - as someone who loved the original movie and rewatch it at least once every year i am very upset at this movie and wish i didnt rewatch it.
and considering indian 2's terrible reviews omg im literally gonna cry shankars downfall has been terrible to watch 😪😪😪 i do have hopes for game changer cuz of karthik subbaraj's involvement in it but its not very high lmao
might need to rewatch enthiran in the next week to cleanse my palate
