I'm back watching One Piece again. This time I'm finishing up Zou and pushing forward.
I stopped at Zou initially I think purely because I was exhausted with the amount of One Piece I was consuming while editing my own One Piece fan film, and getting through Dressrosa took the steam out of me. So seeing these animal characters amidst that was the thing that made it a bit difficult, although nothing about it was explicitly bad or uninteresting. In fact, I was quite vibing with the mystery of it all, though the fact that the mystery is an extension of something from like the middle of the Dressrosa arc was likely a large factor.
Now that I've yapped about why I took a break from One Piece, I have actually gone through and finished Zou and was very delighted by it, seeing the characters reunite and in an arc that is shorter and more focused, with some meaningful thematic and lore elements was very satisfying and entertaining! I especially enjoyed seeing Sanji get some really cool story moments and more development on the Poneglyph stuff. Hopefully I can keep up with Whole Cake Island before life gets a little out of control very soon!
