While Four Lions was funny, it was simultaneously really depressing. It's a great commentary on extremism and the confusion it stirs within people torn between their religion and their morals, as well as the blind hate directed towards Muslims who condone the actions of the extremist few.
I really liked the performances from the cast, especially those of Riz Ahmed and Kayvan Novak, who were great as a comedic duo. And I think the no-frills, documentary-style camerawork helped to highlight both funny and sad moments. Since the run-time is only and hour and forty minutes, the plot is very fast-paced and choppy, which reflects the mindset of the main characters through their journey.
Four Lions is a very interesting watch; I'd definitely recommend giving it a go.
