I’ve been trying to immerse myself in into more international film. I watched this film blindly not even knowing what the plot was about and wow was I blown away. The acting was phenomenal and the storyline was just as exceptional. Any film that delves into the complexities of humanity and the nuances w human behaviour always catches my interest. I think Emad had all the right to get justice for his wife considering what happened to her was outright disgusting n vile. What really blew me was the compassion Emad and his wife (especially) showed at the end to her oppressor despite feelings of anger deep within or the temptation to get revenge. Personally, I don’t think I would’ve been as merciful, idc if he was an old man. If you’re gonna fuck around you’re gonna find out. I guess they did get justice in the end, although I figure In the final shot they look hollow is because justice wasnt served in the way they wanted. Or it could be because revenge doesn’t always satisfy, and instead make u sit w guilt and w the trauma you’re left w.
