Before hand I figured it’s going to be an easy watch about a tragic but uplifting story. That’s all true for the most part, but at the same time I was thinking about this in the wrong way. Life, Animated with the (ongoing)story of Owen Suskind is such a moving and complex presented documentary that really pulls at the heartstrings. It wasn’t to the point of being overwhelmed by the situational hurdles that Owen faced and conquer but it will definitely leave an impression on me for a while after this viewing. Owen is such a great guy and I never would have thought, as great as they are on their own, that the world of Disney films that have been created over the decades could have such an impact. I have found just animation alone to be very powerful and wildly interesting in its creation. While there is also the sometimes overlooked side of animation about the content it holds with the messages, themes, and stories in correlation to the applicability of actual life. This doc has a rollercoaster of emotions, at least if you let it affect you in the way it’s intended i.e myself, but really leaves you with an inspiring outlook on Owen’s life and how much more opportunity he has left to succeed in. If possible some day, an adapted screenplay from his writings and later a feature film made of The Land of Lost Sidekicks could be pretty cool.
