Came across this film as a recommendation and had no idea of the manga or anime. Hence, my POV is purely based on this film. Holy fuck, I was kind of disturbed by the overt tones of slavery, greed and cylical poverty — instead of seeing this as a cautionary tale about gambling.
Also, the character of Endo was amazing; to be so ruthless and to then drive around Tokyo with almost 200 million in the back seat, in tall stacks of hard cash no less? Iconic.
