Though the characters were quite flat and one dimensional – with some who I thought would be key figures falling to the wayside. Though the story waffled at times. I did for the most part enjoy this.

Unanswered questions, in the "we Literally don't have answers, somehow Palpatine survived" way! Leaves a bitter aftertaste.

Good (if average, run of the mill) mystery thriller. Disappointing Kurosawa.

I enjoyed the movie a lot. The build up and everything was great but then it got kinda unrealistic and was a little bit of a let down towards the end. However, that could be intentional

Doesn't feel like the usual Kiyoshi Kurosawa but it's still a solid psychological thriller. The film feels bloated and uses the viewer's expectations against them. There's a lot of restraint shown here and as I've said before I prefer Kiyoshi Kurosawa without a leash. I do adore the message of one's work being so integral to one's life that it becomes inescapable and even inevitable. A detective can move houses but they will always find their serial killer.
