i love movies that follow young people who are just trying to figure everything out. bonus points if they have a strained but loving wacky family.

this movie gets extra props for being set in asheville <3

None of us are perfect and that's okay, the world keeps spinning and how we grow from the circumstances that have provided that imperfection or suffocate us in negativity matters more than the interpersonal flaws that we initially present.

This all feels so specifically real, so authentic in the way that it presents family and character. Everyone is flawed, everyone is trying, and everyone is failing but attempting to pick themselves up again to have another go. Life is about experience and healing, whether that be finally connecting with your parents on a real level or devoting yourself to a cause that you or your family would have never thought in a million years you would be stamping your name on.

This isn't exactly a perfect film, but is pretty damn good for the small-budget familial drama that it is.
