i'm not a huge fan of documentaries, but i thought My Beautiful Broken Brain was such a unique piece of work. a young girl suffers a stroke, and luckily survives. she has to start her life all over again by learning how to talk, learn, write, and spell again.
Lotjie Sodderland's experience is such a powerful and heartbreaking one that you just can't help but be in awe of her. documenting her experience only a couple of days after her surgery, and video taping her thoughts and words that come from her mouth. she's also a huge of David Lynch so she is good in my book
some of the extra visuals were really good and other times that i thought they didn't really need to be there. also, the font of this reminds of me of like a young girl going to coachella with an indian headdress on.
