this is a rewatch but i never logged it before.
however, whilst this film will always be dear to me i fear i kinda understand the mostly low ratings watching it at 22 compared to 14 when it came out.
i feel like the premise is still really good but it feels like it’s slightly lacking in some parts where things don’t quite make sense to an unenjoyable degree.
“goddamnit janice” will always make me laugh, and i fear the cast are mainly what saves this movie. there is something so humorous to me about an 11 year old being like “hey mom kill our neighbour, here’s exactly how to do it”.
i don’t know how i didn’t pick up on how bad the ending was when i was 14, but alas, i was 14 so i shall excuse that, it feels like one of those movies where you just know the ending was written in very limited time with absolutely no forethought whatsoever.
