Candy floss can taste good, but it's still not good for you; it can be quite irritating.> Closer to a 2.5, rating could decrease in the coming daysThis is the least Todd Haynes movie he's ever made. Not that that's too much of a knock against this film, Gus Van Sant has made films that deviates from his typical style like Good Will Hunting and that's one of his best films, but I felt there was nothing here that was noteworthy with a completely predictable, tiring, and kind of irritating story that has some great elements and scenes in it. The setup was quite great and there are some great edits that great a consistent narrative flow. The child actors ranged from fine to very ok, but it didn't distract from everything. There are great moments of direction, and technically, this is excellent, but it feels very emotionally manipulative and just feels like nothing in the end.

Todd Haynes please turn a light on it is so fucking dark I can’t see anything!! Thank you for making such a faithful and honest adaptation of one of my favourite books!!! But maybe invest in a lamp or two!!

What a weird meh of a movie. Someone said I’m glad Todd Haynes got this out of his system, and I have to agree….
