I'm pretty surprised by how much I enjoyed this. It's got over-the-top gore, scream queen Kenji Sawada, awesome looking stop motion effects, and an unexpected tug at the heart strings a bit.

unfortunately i watched this when im just not really in the mood for this kinda movie :/ it was still fun tho

This one feels like a mash up of Evil Dead and Ghostbusters with the usual Tsukamoto eccentricity. Some pretty good atmosphere and effects. Provides some memorable image with unsettling spider-human-head hybrids. The way they shot the faces creates a scary sense of unreality. Some pretty cool Raimi-esque camera work down hallways and through classrooms. There was one scene that reminded me of the cool motion tricks he did in Tetsuo where the goblin is charging fast and carrying two humans. We get close-ups with whirling motion behind them and it's effective. Not a whole lot of meat on the bones. Overall the silliness of the movie didn't bother me in a detrimental sense, but it also doesn't help. Tonally it felt like Scooby Doo at points but in a charming way.
