This was quite a quirky and interesting watch, I enjoyed the absurdity of it. The runtime is nice and concise which was good, it made for a decent little watch. The main body of the film was pretty good but felt slightly lacking in depth and substance. I did really enjoy the final third of the film, the change of scene to outside the burning building was very nice, the colours of it all were beautifully visceral, the snow and fire felt wonderfully reminiscent of Tarkovsky’s Mirror 1975. I enjoyed the intense emotion of that segment that contrasted the overall silliness of the film. In full this was a fun watch, I’ve noticed that I’ve unknowingly started to dive into the world of Czech new wave (with The Cremator 1969 and Tomorrow I’ll Wake Up and Scald Myself with Tea 1977, which I think is part of the movement).
