say what you want about anna wintour but that woman gets the shit done.
it's really unfortunate that celebrities rarely treat the gala as seriously as the organizers do, who, after all, are still painfully white when it comes to different cultures and their representation, especially asian where the differentiation between honest appreciation and orientalistic objectification is still vague for most. i can only imagine how tired wong kar-wai was.
showing some treating the exhibition as some cheep entertaining gag with no second thought was a great move. now i hate justin bieber even more. you don't have to be super educated to be respectful towards underappreciated/misused cultures.
