One more film and my curse will finally come to an end. I don’t know how I made it through all of these films, but I did somehow, and my penultimate experience turned out to be surprisingly decent.
Godzilla has risen, but is behaving strangely, and on the other hand, an Okinawan artifact is unearthed, promising destruction and even saviour. Lo and behold, Godzilla is revealed to be a metallic disguise controlled by aliens, and now the real Godzilla must team up with the prophesied hero to save Earth.
Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla has everything required to be a good showing. There is an interesting lore behind the saviour King Caesar. The drama surrounding the alien is engaging enough to keep us entertained, and Mechagodzilla looks amazing.
The special effects involving fire look devastating and straight out of a nightmare apocalypse. It was the highlight of the film, and I also loved how they steered away from a kid-friendly approach. The story was way more serious this time, with relevant stakes and little time for nonsense.
Overall, it is a harmless watch which doesn’t make many mistakes but at the same time doesn’t do anything major either.
