This is a melodramatic mitosis take on Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde with a Japanese coat of paint. I was surprised at how reasonable their exploration of Japanese culture was, most movies from the 70’s and earlier will exotisize  any culture to an abhorrent degree but this movie was quite tame and reasonable.
