strong contender for one of the worst movies i’ve ever seen. unbelievable how badly this squanders any goodwill created from train to busan. as a prequel, it adds nothing. as its own thing, it’s a complete waste of time. all the characters do the dumbest things imaginable, the zombies act however the plot needs them to, and there is a severe lack of coherence of a message despite the presence of incompetent militarymen and homeless people being a main part of it. there are glimpes of social commentary but everything is executed so randomly and poorly that it just doesn’t work. the zombies are not scary. the plot twist at the end undoes everything the movie is building up to for stupid shock value and undermines all the (barely existent) character development just for a lousy attempt at a sad/bad ending. now, most of this would’ve been tolerable if it wasn’t an animated movie. the animation is god awful. everything is stiff and ugly and the scale of everything is off, including the world building. this is the worst animated movie i’ve ever seen and it is shocking how bad it is considering this is from the same person who made train to busan. i want my 1 hr 32 mins back
