nostalgic Pokémon movie with a really strong storyline, but the execution isn’t as balanced as it could have been. the story is heavy on the emotional side, focusing on broken trust between humans and their creator. and my favorite part about this movie is the whole time travel thing, it’s really interesting, and shows a lot about how the past misunderstandings shaped the present.
but honestly the movie often feels too serious for it’s own good. i understand why Arceus is so angry, but the rage feels repetitive than subtle. a large portion of the first half is just dragged nonstop fighting. the pacing also is a little … because so much of the conflict is about misunderstandings and that takes a long time to clear up.
