I don’t hate Kenneth Branagh, far from it, I think he’s a really good actor, his roles in films like Oppenheimer and Tenet prove it, sadly, the few things I’ve seen of him as a director are lacking, a lot, Murder on the Orient Express is a flat, dull, and at most times, boring film, it doesn’t look great, barely any interesting characters, and nothing makes me want to watch this over Lumet’s version, which I didn’t even like that much, I’ll probably regret it, but I still want to watch the other two Poirot movies he made

Better than Death on the Nile but still not an amazing film. Acting was good for the most part, and there were some very nice sets, but it was so slow-paced and the ending was predictable. I wish Willem Dafoe had more screen time because he would've made the film so much better.

It’s impossible not to compare the movie to the book. Is it on the same level? No, it isn't. They completely nailed the look, the atmosphere, and most of the characters, but the script just didn't get the pacing right. The way they showed everyone’s perspective and case felt rushed, so it doesn't really confuse you the way the book does. Because of this, the sole moment where everything is supposed to click just didn't feel natural or satisfying.

The book is miles ahead, but that doesn't mean the movie is bad. It’s still fun to watch, and if anything, it’ll just make you want to go grab the book and read it.
