I’ve always loved this kind of story—estranged fathers reconnecting with their daughters which is why Somewhere kinda resonated with me.
Watching Johnny interact with Cleo made me reflect on my own relationship with my father.
I kept wondering what happens when people ask him about me. Does he pause and try to think of something to say? Or does he just say I’m doing fine and leave it at that because that’s all he really knows?
And I still love him even if that’s all I am to him.
He knows I’m okay. He knows I’m living my life, that I don’t need him financially, that I’ve learned how to stand on my own. And maybe that makes it easier for him not to ask more.
But I’m here… still wishing he cared enough to know more.
