Actually really liked this one. This movie looks unappealing on the tin: a girl works as a chauffeur and wacky things happen! It’s the 80s! What could possibly make this good?
The answer is Deborah Foreman, the movie’s lead. She is excellent in her role of Casey Meadows. Recency bias is speaking but I definitely could see her in this being one of my favorite performances in a film. And the film is very much a screwball comedy shoved into the 1980s, but it doesn’t feel out of place. I laughed, I didn’t see the bait-and-switch twist coming, and I found myself enjoying a movie like this way more than I expected, and that’s possibly the best thing a movie can do.
