There’s only like 3 people in this movie that see a problem with a grown man and a teenage girl cuddling on the couch after partying together and 2 of them aren’t even real. 

Aside from the failed attempt to portray a positive father-daughter-like dynamic, this movie wasn’t all that bad. It was good for an indie film and it was quite unconventional and quirky. There was a very whimsical tone to it but at the same time it’s clearly an adult movie. I liked the idea of imaginary friends and while the characters were strange, it was clearly on purpose. I wouldn’t personally call this film heartwarming like others might, but it was still pretty good. The visuals, score, costumes and acting are all pretty good as well. I’d personally recommend this movie, I think more people need to watch it.

a pretty interesting idea tossed into trash.
the story had so much potential to explore the topics of growing up and letting go, art block and small artists' troubles, even the beloved found family trope! but the creators decided to bury it all by making a movie about a creep who doesn't even learn any of his lessons at the end. no idea what the authors even wanted to say here.

Ryan Reynolds as an imaginary blonde, spandexed self esteem booster/voice of reason for a helpless middle aged man child. I really don't like Richard; he's extremely insufferable. I don't like his weird befriending/stalking of a teenager. Ryan Reynolds is easily the best part of this film as Captain Excellent, especially when he is calling Richard out on his shit. I kind of get what this film was going for, but at the same time, I really don't like its characters or decisions, even if I kind of understand why they are doing them.
