Kiryu and Mothra is one hell of a combination. Loved seeing both of them in this movie. I would’ve really loved to see the two working together at the same time, but it was awesome nonetheless. As per usual, the effects are exceptional, the score is great, and the action is a hell of a lot of fun. Great stuff.
I have a few gripes so I’ll just throw them out there. In a very similar vein as Terror of Mechagodzilla, this sequel seems to take the premise of the previous entry and polish it, add more action/monsters, and otherwise make an effort to improve on the film. However, it suffers from the same issue as Terror in the sense that this formula makes it lose any sense of novelty. This also has the issue of missing a lot of the narrative depth present in the previous entry. These are a few gripes that, at the end of the day, don’t make the movie any less of a blast, but I do feel it‘s worth mentioning. Spectacular regardless.
