Ok wow hello. This was perfection to me…
I very commonly find movies that I adore the aesthetics of but this movie felt like it was made with me in mind. The GLOW is constant and so so dreamy,, the over exposure making the views through windows just white blurs. Most of the settings are “empty” but the soft glow just makes all the difference! And the settings that felt more crowded were darker and had lots of details throughout :)) I wish I could add photos to reviews just to show how beautiful Yoru’s room was, I loved all of the gothic touches (I’m so jealous of that canopy bed!!)
There were lots of aspects of this movie that felt reminiscent of some video games to me! Fatal Frame, Cineris Somnia, and even The Path!! Mostly because of some of the settings decorated with a dreamy glow, but other details too, one being the use of a digicam ˖°📷༘
Though the movie is a murder-mystery of sorts it felt very calming to watch :> I love the twist put on the genre being that they’re fascinated with “darkness and death”. It really brings a different feel to movie that I enjoyed.
I have to talk about Yoru’s character,, I adored her oh so much ❤︎ She reminded me of myself in ways,, how shy & reserved she was but she talked to Itsuki because of their shared interests :,)) I loved her long black hair & dark outfit (even though technically a school uniform) contrasted with the soft green throughout this film! The final scene was one of my favorites with how her outfit contrasted with the set! She’s so beautiful & stood out so much to me even being kept to herself <3
I could totally write so much more about this movie but I don’t want to drag on :,) it’s safe to say that I adored this movie though, it inspired me in lots of ways!
P.S. the teacher is so gorgeous xoxo
