Life is just so painfully average. I can tell they tried, but it's just a worse Alien. This film has such a good ensemble cast (except Ryan Reynolds), and it underutilises them by giving them such a boring script. Also, if I had a nickel for every time Hiroyuki Sanada died a premature death in a space film, I'd have two nickels, which isn't that weird but it's happened two days in a row for me. The visuals were pretty good, but the CGI of Calvin was a little janky at times. I did like the ending, though; if I went through all that just to fail, I'd off myself immediately.

Maybe it’s the realism of what got me, or rather what wasn’t realistic. 

I highly doubt in a life or death situation, you’d just stare at an alien heading in your direction.
