Ive never loved a movie so much but also been so frustrated and angry about it.
Brian Deneke was murdered by Dustin Camp, but Dustin got to walk free and go to college etc but all Brian got was the system going against him based off of stereotypes because off his appearence and how he chose to express himself.
It was clearly murder. Purposefully running someone over because you dont like them or are intimidated by them is murder. Smashing glass onto their face when they're minding their own business is wrong. This was certainly not self defense. People need to stop acting as if alternative people are these dangerous monsters because we really arent.
Brians case can remind people why they became punk in the first place. The system is corrupt and it needs fixing.

I thought this was an incredibly important and necessary retelling of a case of injustice based in discrimination. Many people go through life without consequences because of who they are or who their parents are while they’re actively negatively impacting the people around them. The people they hurt will never get justice. Like in this story where Brian and his friends may have been criminals in the traditional sense of the word, they were making a difference in their community through music and their art projects while Cody did nothing but cause trouble and play football and hurt the people who were different from him. Yet he gets to walk away. Brian never will. I think everyone should see this film or research Brian’s story. I think it could be very mind opening for a lot of people. And this story doesn’t just apply to punks or alternative people in general, violence based in discrimination and discrimination in the justice system happens to all different kinds of people all of the time just because they’re different. That’s why I think this story is so important and I’m glad it was told.

I don’t even have a shitty little one liner here or dumb joke. Beautiful, powerful, charming and gut-wrenching in equal measure. Brilliant film.
