OHHH MY GOD Martha is like the cutest ever, I love her 😭💓 Handful of moments in this which made me go "ughhh" but tbh I was giggling at most every interaction between Martha and Joseph like they're so sweet...usually straight couples just don't do anything for me, but the way they behave around one another's real cute! Another thing is that I liked the strained relationship between the siblings in this, Martha and David hardly getting along [mostly due to David's issues, in general, his alcoholicism and his need to control her] and Martha still trying to be kind to him. The few nice moments between them, how even though they can be rude to one another you can still tell how much they care for the other, it's such a realistic sibling dynamic.
It takes a lot of guts to be a friend to someone who needs it but doesn't like you and clearly resents you, to be the rock they need when they can't handle life anymore. I envy that sense of selflessness. One thing this does exceptionally well is interpersonal relationships <3
Very simple story and execution but it's great for what it is, y'know? I love the cozy [for lack of a better word] vibe in this, the low budget works in it's favour!! Reminds me of catching the last 30 minutes of some movie on TV as a kid and gettin' real invested in it, has this nostalgic quality to it (maybe because it's from the 80s n I watched a TON of stuff from that era when I was young)
