Finally, we got Donnie Yen, and his kicks are really pretty darned good. But it's hard to beat Cynthia Khan. We've got comedic relief good-for-nothing back on the docket, too, played by Yuen Yat-Choh, who I've seen in other stuff but not in a while. I do like him here, though.
Donnie Yen plays a guy who's somehow so much of a scumbag that the dirty cop betraying everyone is significantly less deplorable and significantly more pleasant. His go-to move is beating suspects during interrogation, and the first thing he does that's even remotely commendable is not telling that guy's mother that he's a suspect in an investigation.
Also, following the trend of Madam Yeung being second to nobody, a lot of people get one over on her, but almost never by fighting her on equal footing. She's either been drugged, or she's been ambushed, or something else like that. It's pretty equal footing between Donnie Yen and Cynthia Khan on important action scenes, our third star getting some important fights as well. At the end, she finishes her fight and then moves in on Yuen Yat-Choh's fight to save his ass...then she interrupts Donnie Yen's fight scene, allowing him to step out and into another fight scene, which is a very good fight scene that unfortunately Cynthia Khan doesn't interrupt. It's alright though, because she beats Michael Wong's ass in the other fight scene and eventually kicks him through a window, causing him to fall to his death. Ending very abrupt.
"Your goods and our money were all destroyed by that policewoman. You want revenge, I'll get you the opportunity."
